Lucas Herbert Wins the Irish Open 2021, after leading every round

Lucas Herbert produced a brilliant battling round of 68 to win his second European Tour title in wire to wire fashion at the 2021 Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.
The Australian entered the final day at Mount Juliet Estate with a one shot advantage and while he extended that to three in the early stages of his round, he would not have it all his own way.
After losing control off the tee, he had to utilise all his scrambling skills and mental strength to reach the turn in 35 and at that point, he had been caught at the top of the leaderboard.

Australia’s Lucas Herbert completed a wire-to-wire victory at the Irish Open on Sunday (local time) to win his second European Tour title, carding a four-under par 68 in the final round to finish three strokes ahead of Swede Rikard Karlberg.

As Lucas Herbert rolled in the winning putt - his 269th stroke - the actions of his caddie Nick Pugh spoke louder than words: the man with the best beard in golf dropped the flag pole he was holding and, with clenched fists, raised them joyously to the grey skies which had emptied copious rain throughout the final round of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Mount Juliet.
Pugh’s next action was to jump on his man, on the 18th green. Not pretty, or synchronised by any means, but entirely fitting of the moment. Read more

Australia's Lucas Herbert has won his second European Tour title after claiming a wire to wire Irish Open victory by three strokes.
Herbert carded a final round four under par 68 to hold out nearest rivals Swede Rikard Karlberg and American Johannes Veerman respectively.
The victory earned Herbert a place in the British Open at Royal St George's from July 15-18 along with Karlberg and Veerman. Read more

Australia’s Lucas Herbert succeeded where Greg Norman failed 26 years ago and claimed the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open at Mount Juliet.
Victorian Herbert held off final day charges infrequent rain showers from American Johannes Veerman, Scotland’s Grant Forrest and Italy’s Francesco Laporta, as he battled home in three-under 33 to card a four-under 68 and win by three shots from the fast-finishing Swede Rikard Karlberg on 19-under and claim the €485,000 winner’s cheque.
